The TRAMS Import and Export Utilities are designed to help you import/export XML formatted files to/from your TRAMS database(ClientBase or TRAMS Back Office). The utilities are specifically designed to "describe and carry" data in a TRAMS specified format. XML(Extensible Markup Language) is a format that allows relational data files to be created with one-to-many relationships, meaning that you can import more and richer information than with standard ASCII delimited files.

The import updates existing records on a routine basis or adds to the database. The export copies the rich profile data to an export file. There are several uses for these programs:

• Importing/Exporting data to/from your consortia
• Importing/Exporting data to/from setup of an acquired database
• Importing/Exporting data to/from a Web site

These utilities only work with the XML Export Utility export files or with files that are designed to meet the XML specifications designed by TRAMS. View our User's Guide to learn more.
