Susan Skinner, an 8-year member of the TRAMS support team specializes in helping our customers use ClientBase, our customer relationship management software. You’ll often find Susan answering questions on our daily Q&A Webex and be sure to look for her at TMU. She’ll be teaching classes and answering questions in the Study Hall.
Did you know that you can have a separate invoice, itinerary, statement, and receipt header and footer for each branch?
The global defaults section stores the invoice, itinerary, statement, and receipt header and footers for all the branches in your database. Simply go to Utilities|Branch, highlight a branch and click to modify your branch settings. You’ll see the Page Settings tab. Here you can create a specific header/footer for the branch. Use the invoice page setup button, the itinerary page setup button, the statement page setup button, or the receipt page setup button to setup the header and footer for each of those reports.
If nothing is entered in the branch settings, ClientBase uses the global header and footer, but if you create the headers and footers in the branch settings, the branch settings are used instead.
Thank you for being a TRAMS customer.
Frank Diaz, a Customer Support Supervisor, has been with TRAMS for 6 years, helping our customers use both TRAMS Back Office and ClientBase. Frank is also a trainer here in Los Angeles and will be at TMU. He’ll be teaching TBO classes and answering questions in the Study Hall.
Did you know you could schedule some of your processes to run automatically in TBO?
In the Travel Industry you have busy schedules. You have enough to do keeping up with the changes in the industry, but there are procedures you must do to insure the integrity of your database. Many of these procedures can be automated to run after you have left the agency for the day including:
- Daily Backup for TBO or ClientBase
- CRS Interface Download/Processing
- Batch Report Printing
- Batch Report E-mailing
That’s correct - these items can be setup to process with nobody in the office. The only requirement after they have been setup is to have the server running, the printers loaded with paper, or the backup media in the drive.
Automated Backup
- Open the Backup Utility
- Open the Database Alias, and Enter the User Name and the Password.
- Ensure that the “Backup To:” field has the correct path to the media selected.
a. Example: D:\
b. Example: C:\Backup (Backup being the name of the folder on the local C:\ drive)
- Click “Create Shortcut”. This creates a Backup icon on your computer’s desktop.
- Close the Backup Utility.
- Go to the Desktop and point to the new icon for the backup and right-mouse click on the icon.
- In the target field, scroll over to the end of the target line.
a. "C:\Program Files\20801Trams\Common Files\ibbackup.exe" -UserName SYSDBA -EncPwd1 "696D28D2F51DB07CEF" -Alias "TECHU" "C:\BKUP TECHU"
- Press the Space Bar once and then enter –auto
a. "C:\Program Files\20801Trams\Common Files\ibbackup.exe" -UserName SYSDBA -EncPwd1 "696D28D2F51DB07CEF" -Alias "TECHU" "C:\BKUP TECHU" –auto
- Select Start|Control Panel|Schedule Tasks and click “Add Scheduled Task.”
- When the Scheduled Task Wizard opens up, click Next.
- Select the Database Backup Application you created on your Desktop and click Next.
- Select the frequency you want the task to operate - Daily, Weekly, Monthly, etc., and click Next.
- Enter the Start Time and Date you want the process to begin processing. Click Next.
- When it asks you for your User Name and Password, it’s asking for the login name for the computer, not TRAMS Back Office or ClientBase Plus. So you need to contact your IT department to get the User Name and Password.
- Now click Finish and you have successfully set the backup to run at the time you prescribed.
Other automated procedures are created in basically the same way. When creating the Batch Reports to run as scheduled, you need the Batch Number that is created by TRAMS Back Office at the time the batch is created. Like the backup procedure it has the Key “- auto”, the other procedures have their own keys that need to be entered.
Backup = -auto
Print Batch = -printbatch <batchreport 1, batchreport 2, …>
Interface = -autointerface
E-Mail = -emailbatch <batchreport 1, batchreport2, …>
